Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"If you’re looking for a spot that perfectly balances rich history with high-quality comfort food, Hanoverville Roadhouse is it. This place has been around for 200 years, and you can feel the character the moment you walk in—from the vintage photos of the original hotel to the hilarious "No Ouija Boards" sign by the door (apparently, things have gotten a little too "spirited" in the past!). The Drinks: The bar here is top-tier. We had two perfectly layered pints: a Guinness mixed with Blue Moon and a Guinness mixed with Downeast Cider. Both were poured with expert precision—it’s rare to find a place that nails the "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Snakebite" look and taste this well. The Food: French Onion Soup: This was an absolute masterpiece. It arrived with a massive, bubbling, beautifully browned crust of melted cheese that was pure indulgence in every spoonful. The Entrees: The tortellini was phenomenal—fresh, vibrant, and loaded with spinach, olives, and mushrooms. It was paired with some of the best garlic bread I've ever had—thick, buttery, and perfectly toasted. The chicken dish with artichokes and olives was equally impressive, bursting with bold, savory flavors that made for a truly incredible meal. The Experience: The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is welcoming, and the history is everywhere you look. Between the great food and the quirky local legends (check out the skeleton under the blue lights!), it’s a one-of-a-kind experience. We’ll definitely be back—but we'll leave the Ouija board at home!"
"Drove past this restaurant many times and always though it looked like a place I would want to try. Walked in Turrsday around 6 and it wasn't busy. The diners seems like loyals and a much older crowd, sort of like the defunk Brass Rail. The interior is nice and the staff friendly l. The food is good but nothing that you can't get at any other similar establishment. I can see myself sitting at the bar and having drinks and apps since it wasn't over crowded or loud. Maybe a Friday night or weekends might be more lively. I'll definitely stop by again."
"First time here was for lunch today with my mom. I get a decent lunch break but wanted somewhere close to work and my mom wanted to try out someplace new so, I suggested here. It was a beautiful day to sit outside so, we did. I’m not sure if there was more outside seating but, there were a nice amount of tables in the front where we were. Our server greeted us and told us the specials right away. Even though we ate outside, the inside had a really chic-spooky atmosphere and we loved that! My mom ordered the fish and chips with the fries well done and I got the turkey avocado panini with fries. I am a fry fanatic and I give these a 10/10. The portions were huge, my mom’s fish was steaming and very juicy. The panini was very big, I took half home. The only thing I wish was that there was a dipping sauce/side for my sandwich. I felt it was just missing a saucy factor but still 10/10. My mom also got a punch cocktail that was beautiful in color and the beer selection was good. I was in and out in and hour for my lunch. She actually stayed longer to enjoy herself. We will be back again!"
"Amazing place with great history and a flair for the supernatural! The food and service are both top notch and the atmosphere is appropriately vintage...we have both hunted ghosts AND had dinner with a medium here so go get your proton pack and set a course for adventure, you will be happy you did!"
"We both enjoyed our dinner. She was impressed with the French dip sandwich (no fat) and I really liked the swordfish. Portions were adequate and we left satisfied."
"What a special place. Just had my mother's 90th birthday there. The food was fantastic the servers were excellent (thank you Cindy) and the price for 15 people was very reasonable. Thank you for helping us make a special day even more wonderful."
"Delicious food. Great service and atmosphere. Wife had the tortellini and I had Veal Parm. Portions were large. Alfredo sauce was rich and delicious. Veal was huge, tender, very cheesy. We will be back."
"Food was great, loved it! (The food was so good i stuffed myself accidentally lol) had so much fun, loved the halloween decor, and the cellar dweller was such a cool thing that was added! Definitley would come back again"
